Security Restrictions
Currently, travel by air to and from the United Kingdom is subject to a number of security restrictions.
The 'one bag rule' for hand luggage is no longer being enforced at most airports, but please check with your departure airport prior to your flight. Restrictions on liquids are still in place, with carriage of liquids in hand luggage limited to 100ml containers in a litre capacity (20cm x 20cm) transparent bag.
Please visit the Foreign Office website at www.fco.gov.uk for more detailed information regarding travel to your destination.
How do I cancel my Flight ticket?
The lead passenger on the flight ticket must contact us in writing (post, fax, email) with details of the cancellation. It is advisable to call our Customer Service Department to confirm receipt of the cancellation, but we cannot take verbal cancellations.
Charges may apply with Colchester Travel, and your travel provider. Please see our Booking Conditions for details of charges.
How do I make changes to my Flight booking?
Tickets are non-transferable. Changes of destination are not allowed but a change of travel dates may be possible. Please contact our Customer Service Department with your booking details. Administration fees may be payable to us and airlines may charge amendment fees; please see our Booking Conditions for details of charges.
Should I confirm my flight times before travel?
You are advised to confirm your flight and transfer times before travel for both outgoing and return journeys, but it is also recommended that you confirm the details of your return journey, and all related transfers, during the course of your holiday.
Are in-flight meals included?
In-flight meals are not included on low-cost airlines. They may be available with other flight providers – please check with your airline before travel.
What time should I check in for my flight? What ID do I need to check-in?
As a general rule, you should be checking in for your flight 3 hours prior to long-haul flights, and 2 and half hours before short haul or European flights.
Failure to check in on time may lead to you missing your flight; Colchester Travel cannot accept responsibility for this, but your travel insurance may cover it – please confirm with your insurance provider.
A valid passport is required in order to check in to your flight, supported by any other documentation (visas etc) where required. For further information, please visit the Passport Service website at www.ips.gov.uk.
What is my baggage allowance on a Low Cost Flight?

Can a child under 16 fly/travel alone?
Any passenger aged under 16 years is classed as a minor and therefore prevented from travelling on their own.
When booking with Colchester Travel, the lead passenger must be aged 18 or over in all cases. You must be over 18 years of age to proceed with a booking. By making any booking for services with age restrictions you declare that you are of the relevant age to purchase those services.
At what age is an air passenger considered an infant/child? Are infants allocated their own seats?
Generally, infants are passengers aged between 0 and 23 months on the date of their return from holiday. Children are passengers aged between 2 and 11 years on the date of their return from holiday. All passengers aged above 11 years upon return will be charged for travel at the full adult rate.
Infants are not allocated a seat and will be required to sit on an adults lap. Skycots (for infants up to the age of 3 months) may be booked in advance with some airlines, but availability is not guaranteed.
Please note: Children and infant considerations are dependent on each individual provider, so it is advised to check with your airline if you are still unsure, or call Colchester Travel further advice.
My details are incorrect on my flight ticket, what can I do?
Please contact our Customer Service Department with your booking details. Please ensure all details given on the booking form are correct before you proceed to confirmation, as amendments may incur administration charges.
Do I need to include middle names for passengers?
Middle names are not required for your passengers, but first names and surnames given must match those stated on your passport. Please ensure all details are correct as you may be charged for amendments.
I have not received my flight tickets - what should I do?
If you have not received your flight tickets within 7 days of your date of departure, please contact our Customer Service Department urgently. Ticket collection on departure will be arranged for you.
What happens with flight tickets if I have booked a Low Cost flight?
Low cost airlines run a ticketless system. Like e-ticketing, you will be given a booking reference, and you will need to provide this reference plus all supporting documentation (passport, visas) upon check in.
Why have I received a paper ticket rather than an e-ticket?
Some routes do not yet use the e-ticketing system. If you have received a paper ticket, it simply means that your particular flight route is not yet e-ticketed. Paper tickets can not be converted to electronic tickets after issue.
What is an electronic ticket (or e-ticket)? If I have an e-ticket, what documents do I need to present upon check in?
Electronic tickets (or e-tickets) are tickets stored within an airline's computer system. You will be given a reference number to be presented at check in, and you may also be required to present the credit or debit card used at the time of booking, as well as the usual check-in documents (passports, visas).
What is involved with ticket on departure?
Ticket on departure is different from electronic-ticketing. Ticket on departure means that you will collect your ticket from the relevant airline desk at the airport.
Please take all flight documentation with you, including your booking reference. Should you have any problems, please go to the information desk at your departure airport.
When will I receive my Flight tickets?
Tickets are usually sent 10 to 14 days before the date of departure. If your booking is made within 21 days of your departure date, you may be required to pick up your ticket from the airport upon departure.
Which terminal am I flying from?
Details of your departure terminal may be found on the website of the departure airport.
