New Year in Kakslauttanen 5 day trip to Lapland

New Year in Kakslauttanen is set in the pine forests and rolling fells of Western Lapland, provides a special backdrop for a New Year away from it all.

As the current year gives way to the New Year, fortunes are told in the traditional Sami manner and fireworks along with (hopefully) the Northern Lights will illuminate the dark night sky.

Day 1 in Lapland

Depart Heathrow at 10.20 on Finnair scheduled flights(s) via Helsinki to Ivalo. Arrive 18.55 local time and transfer to Kakslauttanen. Check in to your private log cabin. Dinner will be served in the hotel.

Day 2 in Lapland

After breakfast kick start your New Year with a husky safari through and across the enchanting wilderness of the rolling fells. Special equipment and clothing is provided and a picnic lunch around an open fire is included. Dinner at the hotel.

New Years Eve in Lapland

After breakfast, crank up a gear from the day before with a snowmobile safari following a different trail from that taken the previous day. A Gala Dinner with Lappish delicacies is served in the hotel’s log clad restaurant before midnight celebrations in and around the Ice Gallery with fireworks and a champagne toast to greet the New Year. Personal fortunes for the coming year are told from the shapes taken from melted tin. Afterwards celebrations continue into the small hours of the morning.

New Years Day in Lapland

After a late morning breakfast, ease into the New Year with a gentler pace safari – by reindeer lunch en route by an open fire before an afternoon of free time, either just to relax or trying your hand at crosscountry skiing.

Day 5 in Lapland

Breakfast and morning at leisure before transfer to Ivalo and return flight(s) via Helsinki to Heathrow, departing at 13.30 and arriving at 17.10.
